Mercury is a chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol Hg and atomic number 80.The name Mercury is named after the planet Mercury.
Mercury is also known as quicksilver or hydrargyrum. Mercury is mostly obtained by reduction from the mineral cinnabar and it's a metal which is liquid at room temperature. Organic mercury compounds are important and dangerous. When the temperature gets higher it gets more dangerous.
It can be found in nature and is found mainly in cinnabar ore (HgS) in Spain and Italy.
Mercury is used to make scientific instruments such as thermometers, barometers, diffusion pumps, marcury vapor lamps, mercury switches, pesticides, batteries, dental preparations antifouling paints, pigments and catalysts.
Mercury is a naturally occurring element that is found in air, water and soil.
It's an element in the earth's crust. Humans cannot create or destroy mercury.It acts as a cumulative poison.
